What is your privacy fence made out of? Chain link with slats, wood, metal?
Hi Irene, You could attach some lattice panels on to the top of your privacy fence. Try calling your local home improvement stores to ask if they make lattice panels intended for extra privacy. Best of luck to you.
I believe lattice framed would be your cheapest and best bet To get that fence a little taller.
How tall is your fence now? and how tall do you want it to be to give the privacy that you would like? What material is your fence made out of?
Attaching anything to a top of a fence so that it stays in place, does not fall off or fly away in the wind is not as easy. It requires additional vertical supports that are themselves anchored into the ground.
Don't fasten to fence as a lot of places you can only have 6 ft fence. Put it a few inches inside of fence line. 4&4 post in dirt or cement or chain link fence post in dirt or cement. Get the post hardware for pipe/2x4's, put 2x4's across & use lattice across the top or go 8 ft up & plant climbing flowers to climb. Good luck.
Many cities have code requirements that limit the height of a fence... say ^ ft.... BUT... they do not limit the height of trees or bushes, etc... grown inside the fence... consider putting in a series of trellises and growing pretty vines on them or trees that grow more vertical and not so much around.... a LOCAL nursery should be able to help you find just the right ones for your needs.
