Suggestions for front door color

Our home is yellow vinyl siding, dark green shingle roof, brown/red brick front porch & steps with white railing & posts. The front door is currently an ugly dark brown (and I mean ugly!). It has a 6 pane window - we want to replace the door some day but right now paint will do. Suggestions for door color??

Hi Cindy, this is a picture of my house I sold a couple of years ago, the door was actually a dark forest green with the terra cotta screen door...which brought the yellow, green and red all together I thought. :) You could always paint the door a terra cotta though.....I almost did that. I've inlcuded a pic of a room done in rookwood terra cotta (SW Paint). Good luck!

@Rebecca Before I saw your response, I was looking at a paint chip sample and terra cotta popped. My powder room is terra cotta & I love it so I think I'm going with terra cotta -- will look great with some potted plants on the front porch using terra cotta planters. So excited now to get it painted in the spring.

you might want to try a dark green to match the roof. or if possible a deep purple the same color value as the roof. Just a thought, sometimes a pop a color is refreshing.
  • A primary color would work well: white, red, yellow, blue.... perhaps!
