What is the easiest way to make a walkway on uneven ground?

Our side yard gets little sun so there is a lot of areas of little grass and a lot of mud. We roll our garbage pails out to the curb on this part of the yard so I need something that will allow easy rolling.

muddy ground usually means that there is water somewhere nearby...I would suggest putting down a border framework of wood [ OR dig into the ground & let the ground be your 'form'] & then put down a bed of sand & place porous pavers" on top the layer of sand; then place sand over the top & sweep with a broom into the crevices to help fill in between the pavers & stabilize them...you can also lightly spray with water to clear the sand off the pavers & into the crevices. IF you get 'porous pavers,' you will have the added feature of rain water running down through the avers...not on top of them. These pavers also come in a multitude of colors, so feel free to decorate your walkway too!

The grass will continue to grow & come up right thru whatever you put down unless you remove it or kill it. Once grass is dealt with, I would suggest some kind of weed block between dirt & whatever you put down using your choice if walkway design & materials. Will save you time, work, & frustrations in the long run.
