How can I stain over white solid color stain with wood toned stain?
22 years ago, I used Ace Wood Royal white solid stain on my porch posts. Now, I am thinking of changing the color to a rich wood tone and adding wooden shutters to my all white and green roofed house. I have sanded the posts until they are smooth, but the white stain remains. What should I do next?

You can stain over stain with Gel stain. Any good brand will do. You can go darker but not lighter.

Yes even exterior grade stain. Many fiberglass entry doors can't be stained with regular stain so gel stain is the only solution. Should work on your porch posts.
