How do I paint screened in metal roof?
I have a screened in porch with some sort of metal roof, looks like siding. It gets very hot during the day. Can it be painted and what type of prepping/paint to use?
Thank you,
Linda DiVito

You will need to clean first. Remove any old paint by scraping. Make sure you use an energy-efficient paint and you may need a galvanized metal primer as well. Apply with brush or roller. Rather than painting, you might want to consider metal roof coating (link below). It will extend the life of your roof and help to deflect the heat.

Clean the area first and sand or scrape if necessary as mentioned above. Lowe's and Home Depot both carry exterior paint with primer in them. They withstand heat and cold . You can also use Tremclad paint specifically made for covering metal.
