How hard is it to get door paint to stick on a metal exterior door?

Make sure the surface to be painted is clean and dry and scuffed a bit with fine sandpaper. Then use Rustoleum Oil-Based Paint in your choice of color. It will cover well and last for eons!
I cleaned the door well then roughed it up with some with sandpaper and used a combo primer/latex paint. It took several coats but held up well
Not difficult if you buy the correct paint and primer for the metal the door is - Alluminium/Steel etc.
