Paint Color Scheme Suggestions Please

Help! We want a paint face lift for our 77 year old mother's house in the retirement community of Sun City, AZ. (nothing too flashy, earth tones probably best) We can't replace the light grey roof for a while, but it kind of clashes with the brick. She was thinking grey or greige and is not sure if she wants to paint over the brick or not. We are putting wooden shutters back on the house, offsetting the windows. The contractor wants to start in mid-Feburary, so we need to pick a color scheme by next week. Suggestions welcomed. Thank you

You may have already gone down this road, but I've always found great help with color schemes at our local Benjamin Moore store. (I'm very indecisive when it comes to color schemes) I've taken in photos, paint flakes, etc and they've always been able to give me great color suggestions that are complementary! Good luck with this, I wish I had something better to offer! :)

I think painting the brick would unify the front of the house, because there's a lot going on there. If you do that, then match the paint on the garage door and shutters, it would make them more noticeable. I agree with Nancy, get help from a paint store on colors to use and what type of paint to use on brick.

Painting the brick is the only way to completely unify the roof, wood and brick so it looks cohesive. If it were my house I would paint it BM Pewter: http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/pewter I would paint the shutters BM Distant Gray - which is really just a slightly off white:http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/distantgray And lastly I would paint the front door Popcorn Kernel: http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/popcornkernel or if your mom prefers red she might go with Vermillion: http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/vermilion Of course a true black or bright white would be beautiful as well.

Don't get the white rectangle to the left of the far window? Don't think I'd paint the brick. since the gray shingles will be replaced at some point. Black or charcoal shutters will be nice. Is there a way to put some shrubbery along the front?

When we chose a color for our exterior, the stone was not a matching color. I took a spray painter and lightly spayed it with a version of the gray we had painted the home. It tied it together and blended it all a new way ~ leaving the original stone with the rest of the new color. Short spurts of spray ~ no entirely covering it. I looks very nice.

Thank you for all of your help. We finally settled on colors. Yay!!! Dunn Edwards paint - Reclaimed Wood (922) for the base (including the brick, it's just too odd of a color to match anything too), Metal Fringe (923) for the garage door, Charcoal Sketch (925) for the shutters, Fresh Snow (976) for the trim and Royal Red Flush (722) for the front door. The paint contractor should begin in two weeks. I will post the finished project when it is complete. We are really looking forward to the change.
