Defends on the wall color, we have to base it there, because by just painting it whatever color you want, might not look good, it should be at least closer or shall I say will not look awkward from the wall paint. From what I saw on your picture (not sure), it’s completely different when you see the actual color than by just basing it on the picture, I suggest, light brown or a shade of cream/beige color. If you decide to paint it dark color, dirty or dust is noticeable right away.Helpful Reply -

I think your rails and baseboards etc would look lovely a deeper gray than the walls in the living room. Risers and spindles white.Helpful Reply -

Yes your walls looked like cream/beige color, for me, just a suggestion, I will paint the rails a little darker than your walls and the stairs, the deeper grey color, at least it will all look like one tone (shade-grey). Pls let me know if you agree on my suggestion.Helpful Reply -

Dark gray for stairs and railings... IMO I don't think you have the type of railing that would look right 2 toned. I think dark gray would look modern like your style of railing.I had natural wood like you and painted it white as per a designer's recommendation...big mistake! It always looked dirty or worn, despite trying different paints, and cleaning it all the time.Helpful Reply- See 1 previous
