I love the look of painted cement benches and statuary. I have had good results with water resistant masonry paint. You'll have to reapply after a few years. I did mine in 2011 and they're just now needing an update. There are several options: Drylok, Valspar Masonry Waterproof, Zinsser Watertight to name a few.
