What can you use to "seal" paint on outside carpet?

I am painting my outdoor carpet on my covered front porch but it does get some rain/snow at times. What could you seal it with after painting that would help it not fade from wear and/or discolor from the elements?

I'd be interested in learning of your experience over the next year having painted exterior carpeting. Especially like to know what kind of carpeting and paint and how you applied it. Paint IS a sealer. That is the point of putting paint on anything. You don't need another layer.

  And you think it would wear ok without anything over the top of it? I will be painting indoor/outdoor carpeting on the entire porch. Probably with an exterior latex paint.
