Hi Craig. Here is a coffee table I redid in white and turquoise. The turquoise showed through when I sanded it down. https://www.recreateddesigns.com/2016/07/saltwashed-coffee-table-straight-beach/

Here on Hometalk there are several people who actually spray painted their vinyl couches and chairs. I've never done it, but it may be a DIY to peek at. https://www.hometalk.com/diy/paint/furniture/spray-painting-furniture-vinyl-chair-4132074
Spray Paint a Vinyl Chair
Hi! Your idea about painting the tables is a good one. Prep first no matter what paint you are using. I like to scrub the table first, sand when dry or strip until all surface gloss/finish is removed. I like to seal the old finish so there is no bleeding through of the old finish. A product like Kilz will work. Now, layer your colors, distress and seal with a clear drying polyurethane. Good luck!
Hi Craig. I read a study where several different paints were put to the test. The criteria was Coverage, Texture, Flexibility, and Chipping. The best way to prepare vinyl for painting is starting with a clean surface. Lightly sanding and cleaning all sanding dust off. And the spray paint that made the top of all others was Rustoleum's Fabric and Vinyl Spray Paint. Good luck Craig. I hope you are well.
There are lots of posts here on painting furniture that could help you:

Although I've never used it, I've heard marvelous things about FAB. As for the side tables, I would paint turquoise first then white so the turquoise would show through. I use whatever paint I find a good deal on for painting furniture. I'm not a big fan of chalked paint because it isn't durable and I paint for the long term.
MAKES SENCE, I WILL TRY X THANKS,
