Computer desk makeover

Question

I hope you can see this picture ok. We're moving and I've painted some of my other furniture just for something different. I want to paint this desk. I definitely want to paint the top and then put plexi glass on it. What should I do? Paint the whole thing with white chalk paint? Just the top and back wall?

@Kristi Chittam What a beautiful piece. It sounds to me as if you realllly want to paint this piece. If you are to do that my vote would be for the option that leaves the bottom alone and just do the top.

Thanks Gail! When I say top I mean the desk part that the computer and keybosrd sit on. Is that what you mean?

Painting that part only will look great but are you sure you want white?  There are so many awesome colours out there.  Have you ever heard of Modern Masters metallic paints?  Have a look at there site first and picture one of their glorious colours on the flat top and back and under glass, would be even more amazing.  If you still want white then at least you're sure.  Have fun.

I am with Mary. How about painting the background of the hutch. Maybe a color other than white depending on other colors in your home. Something to make it pop. If that does not work you could always paint the entire piece. Please post finished project

Why not use wallpaper as a back ground , You could go really bold. or decide what colours make you happy, and go for them. You could always buy tester pots from the DIY and try them on Card and place them to see what they look like.
