I would ask hardware store people. Take a cabinet door with you!
Hi JoAnn. I like Kilz for a primer. For paint I use latex Phittsburgh. I would go with a semi gloss. That would make it easier to wipe them down.
We primed with Zinsser or Kilz, but then used a paint from Sherwin Williams that had enamel in the mix. It has held up now for five years and the cabinets still look great!
I can't tell you WHAT paint to use, but I can say do your research!! Look on different paint sites, ask questions, then ask more questions and more research!!! Chalk paint, milk paint, Sherwin Williams, Behr, Rustoleum, Benjamin Moore, sooo many paints!!! ASK, compare, see if you can talk to any of their customers....do a lot of research!!! Good Luck!!! Would love to see your end project!!!
Be safe re you degrease and clean and/or sand the doors (and bottom of upper cabinets). Any good primer that works with interior paint. Most paint lines have an enamel or cabinet/trim version. You want it to dry to a good hard finish so they will hold up to cleanup my.
Just make sure to prime if you plan on using a water based paint to cover an oil based one...or it will peel😟
Oil based paint is the only way to go!
