How do I put a new table top on an older patio table?

I have a patio table that is still in good condition but it needs an update. The table itself is metal with a glass top.

You didn't mention if the table has the circular cut out hole for an umbrella. If it does have the cut out hole, then KEEP THE GLASS! I went to a glass manufacturer in my town to see about get a hole cut out in a new piece of glass, and the price blew me away! First off, you have to have tempered glass. For me to get a 2 ft. by 2 ft. piece of tempered glass with the hole cut out for an umbrella was going to be $80 !!! The table, and 2 chairs with great cushions that I already had cost me $90 on sale at Walmart. So instead of ordering a new piece of glass for $80, I just bought a 2nd set of chairs with cushions and a new table with glass. So for $10 more than the glass company wanted for 1 new piece of tempered glass, I now have 4 metal chairs that are powder coated, with full cushions, 1 table with hole cut out, and the old table I took the glass out of and put in a piece of wood, with a hole cut out. So weigh the cost of what you want to do with your table... sometimes it's just more feasible to buy a new set, or a new table from Walmart.
