How to redo a glass table top?

It's just a piece of glass on a bamboo table. I'm tired of cleaning the glass.

It sounds like you want to keep your glass tabletop, but I found mine to be a complete time-suck. I even made a centerpiece that included a bottle of windex and a roll of paper towels. I eventually sold it to my ex! bwah-ha-ha-ha! (as she rubs her hands together in a most sinister fashion)

Ask at a paint store. With proper cleaning and priming you probably could spray paint it. HTH, Rosie

You can spray paint it Linda or tile it. I break up cheap subway tile (any color or multi colors) and arrange on a glass top, glue it down ( I use just a drop of E600) and when dry use un-sanded grout to fill in the spaces. I've done this on wood and glass...

Thanks, I've done that to a coffee table. This is just a slab of glass and I'm concerned about the edges looking finished as the grout will not stick there ! I thank you so much for the reply

Have you thought about purchasing etching cream (http://www.michaels.com/armour-etch-glass-etching-cream/M10208713.html) and etching the entire top of teh table? It will still get dusty, but it won;t be as noticible once it has that milky etched consistency and you won;t see fingerprints etc..... That is what I would do.... Or, make a coplex patttern so you have some clear and some etced glass....

Keep the glass to protect the bamboo wood from scratching. If it's removable you can display pictures, leaves, etc. For easy cleaning, put a machine washable cloth on it.

You could paint the underside of the glass.

Using the piece of glass as a pattern cut a new piece out of wood. That you could paint or whatever you want to do.

  • I love the idea of spray paint or your could turn it into a mosaic look by decoupaging it with colorful paper or napkins from underneath. You'd still have to clean the glass, but fingerprints and dust wouldn't show nearly as quickly.

You could replace the glass with timber or tile over it. You could cover it with something like Contact paper?
