Mixing leg finishes. Chairs have wood legs, can sofa have metal legs?

Of course. You can mix whatever you wish. A room that is not all the same is much more interesting. -

If their legs are painted to complement the chairs. -

I'd say you can mix if they are all the same 'something'........ like same color, or same era, like modern wood and modern metal, or vintage wood and vintage metal.
