What should I use to paint a rusted bed frame?

Lori on Apr 03, 2016I would sand any loose rust off if any and spray it with any good spray paint for metal, Rustoleum or Krylon. It looks in good shape so this should be an easy quick job.Helpful Reply

Janet Pizaro on Apr 03, 2016Rub the metal down first with mineral spirits to aid in the removal of the rust. Sand, then use a primer for metal, allow to dry and use a spray paint for metal.Helpful Reply

Cheryl on Apr 03, 2016If that was my piece I would use it as a coffee table. Sand lightly leaving most of the rust and chalk paint in a light color distressing it heavily. Use a piece of glass for the top!?Helpful Reply

Jeanette S on Apr 03, 2016First of all brush it vigorously with a wire brush to get the loose rust off...you can use a brush made for a drill for this too to make the job faster and easier. Then if used inside, just paint whatever color you want using Rustoleum pain. If to be used outside, spray with a Rustoleum rust protection spray.Helpful Reply

Mona Wolfert on Apr 03, 2016Believe it or not but Coca Cola is terrific for loosening and removing rust. (That's why I don't drink it!). Get 2 litre or quart bottle and pour some in a spray bottle or pour in pail. Use wire brush to scrub away rust. Works like a charm. Rinse piece with water. Let dry. My favourite outdoor paint for metal is Tremclad or Rustoleum.Helpful Reply
