What is the best way to paint over wood

the old screen door has been painted with an oil based paint. I want to repaint the door. We are repurposing it for a cabinet door.

use citristrip to remove the old paint,remove any residue and repaint -

Painting over an existing surface, especially one with oil based paint, is always the same. Sand, sand, sand. Clean, clean, clean. Mask. Paint -

No need to completely strip to bare wood. Sand all areas, to smooth out any rouge areas, prime, then paint. Just be sure to clean off any dust from from sanding. -

Use Kilz to seal the oil base paint and paint over with laytex! -
