Are there any paints that really repel mildew and mold?
Paints that really repel mildew and mold? It is always damp where we live and we don't have humidifiers for the whole house in the winter. It's too cold to leave all the windows open, not to mention that I live in a rain forest.

I have used paints that repel Mold and Mildew and have been very effective. There are also bead like products that absorb water and found in most retail stores.
We found using Kilz aroma free primer really helps cut down on mold and mildew so much we even used it in a shower in the basement!
All I know is bathroom paint has mildecides in it. Just slows the mold down. Haven't seen any that repels mold and mildew.
You can also buy mildewcides to add to any paint. But enamel and semi-gloss are best.
Question? how cold does it get in a rain forest?
Fans help dry out a room by keeping the air moving.
Mildewcides come as powder in little packets that you add to your paint. You buy it at paint stores. Easy peasy.
Also, use a dehumidifier in your home.
Run exhaust fans when cooking. You'd be surprised how much humidity occurs in a kitchen. Get a very good quality auto humidity sensing fan for your bath (they make them with more quiet motors, now).
Bpi makes an excellent point. Purchase one than drains into a floor drain, so you never have to empty it. Set it to maintain 40% humidity indoors.
Scrub walls with vinegar, to reduce mildew.
