Yes. its good to sand and prime first.
No ! That is one of the reasons why is is so nice to use . You do need to clean the piece and make sure it is dust free .
Hi Carol! No sanding required with chalk based or mineral based paints! Some of my favorite brands are Annie Sloan, Dixie Belle, Lowes also sells Valspar and it works great too! Jolie is good too!
Most furniture you do not need to sand first however if it has a high gloss I would give it a quick sanding to degloss the furniture
