DecoArt has a line of glass paint that will also work on mirrors. Check it out at your local craft store.
Perhaps try paint markers. These give you more ability to do detail work but the big downside to painting markers is that many of them need to be heat cured.
I would use Krylon's looking glass paint.

I've used spray paint on a mirror and it's been on for years. Just make sure you buy one that's made for glass.

Glass paint is your best bet, but I'm not sure you can mix it with etching cream. Contact the company that makes the etching cream for the best advice.
