Epoxy Over Laminate Countertop
You likely need some kind of filler to fix the hole. Can you post a picture so we can help you better?
Here are some ideas: https://www.hometalk.com/search/posts?filter=paint%20countertops
I've used marine epoxy paint to repair some in the past. I sand off the spot, then mask off the area using painters tape, then apply the epoxy paint base color.... and if it has a speckled finish use a toothbrush and knife to get your spots in the various colors with tiny model paint colors. When all dry put a waterbased epoxy finish on, I like spray spar varnish. Rub out with 0000 steel wool to dull the finish.
Hello Jessica,
Use a Filler to smooth out the hole, then colour it in using artist paints and seal it afterwards, or maybe stick a tile cover over it or stick a permanent chopping board over it.
Good luck!
Hi Jessica, I painted my own countertops years ago, and it lasted a 10 years with regular use,
Lightly sand to rough the countertop up
Go to your paint store, tell them what you are painting, they will pick the proper paint and primer for you, you can even get the primer tinted for a better coverage
Once you have sanded, clean with TSP, then rinse and dry thoroughly,
Apply your primer coat, let it dry according to the instructions
Once the primer coat is dry, apply your paint coat, I would apply 2 or 3 as it will be stronger and thicker
Once your coats dry, you can apply a matte clear coat, either by spray or roll on, keep a small container of it under your sink for touch ups,( I never touched up) I had my counters like this for 12 years, until I could afford new ones.
I used a few uncolored glass cutting boards for protection. It held up very well. And only costs you the prices of the materials.
Good luck!

Paint them and use epoxy resin on top:
Primer spray paint... then spray paint with a stone spray.... then use ENVIROTEX!!! It's like a bar top epoxy resin. It's fine for food to be on. You would mix it up, pour it on and use a blow torch to remove bubbles. Cover the lower cabinets with plastic because when it gets poured, it will drip down off the sides.
Follow the directions on the box and you will love the result. For a few years after we did it, people thought it was granite. It's a great product and our countertops have held up for years now. I think we used 5-6 boxes of envirotex for our countertops. Totalling around $300. hope this helps. It definitely has extended our old pink laminate countertops for another 5-6 years before we can afford real granite or quartz. Good Luck!
Hello. It’s not clear to me do you just want to disguise the spot only or paint the whole countertop. Providing us a picture of your countertop situation might be helpful to be able to offer a response targeted to your situation.
