Can you post a photo (Close up) of your home?
in today's dรฉcor trends, you can paint any color you like. I use HGTV magazine for ideas, they always have a "front door of the month" and then usually curb appeal section. You can find the ideas on the internet, you don't need a subscription.
The trend where I live now is to have a very bright front door. I am talking bright red(next door) bright green (down the street) PURPLE (two blocks down) as long as the colour of the door sort of blends with the house the idea is to make your door the focal point. I have a aluminum storm door and giving serious consideration to painting it a bright colour.
Painted my door last year to a conservative color of blue green because that is comfortable to us. loved all the looks on the internet in, reds yellows and blues but I did not have the home style.... Remember YOU have to like it for a long time this is your home. Look around the area is there another color that is there you are not seeing and you could play off that color.
I updated our front door last year to a comfortable color for us deep blue green . (No storm door). If you are doing a storm door also do your main front door the same color. We know white goes with every thing. You have to love the color for a long time.
Do you have shutters on your house? You don't need to match those, but it does pull everything together. You didn't post a picture, so it's hard to suggest colors, but if you have a white house, and dark shingles, you can go with most any color for your front door. Pick a color you love - blue, green, red, whatever. You'll smile every time you see it when you choose a color that pleases your eye.
Nice Light Olive Green. Ideal for any season and a foil for any flowers or other colour near by.
I personally like stand true colors. By that I mean Black, Dark Red, Navy Blue and Forest Green. It depends, do you have shutters? What colors are in your flower beds?
Decide on the "feel" you want your home to express. Some of us like "happy, whimsical" as a style such as bright yellows, oranges, teals, purples, pinks....or a very conservative more serene style by using black, dark grey, navy, green or maroon. Maybe do some driving around different neighborhoods to see what most appeals to you.
