Answer this Hometalker's question!
1st - chill. Have a glass of wine. The "perfect" color does not exist. You know which color family you like best so stick with it. Tune it from there.
Look online and see what color combinations you are drawn to and then work from there.

What colors are the furnishings? Do you have wall art you particularly like? Steal some color suggestions from what is in front of you.
Take a color from a painting in the room or curtains or accent pillow or rug. It will bring it all together.
Nice neutral tones, like these
Look at your closet. What colors dominate? Those are the colors you like. Sometimes it is not really the question of "like" but suitability and others who share the space with you. Think of the activity you do in a room, my husband is an artist so his studio walls are white, or they could be wood if we lived in such a house. I love a certain shade of green paint I have but it would be bilious in a dining room where a soft rosy red would be enchanting. My living room is a pale blue which in Maine in a north east corner should be all wrong but isn't. Although paint is not free it is still a great buy. As someone said look at magazines but ones whose rooms have some resemblance to yours!
