    Hi Vic,

There are a lot of posts on here about painting ceramic if you are brave. I hate to say it but you need to paint the grout the same green unless your pattern will be in a block pattern and then you would paint same color as detail.. maybe white and then paint cabinets white. That will brighten up the space for sure! This HT'er did an awesome job.

From your picture, the grout looks like a peach color. I would go over it with a light tan color. Vanity would be pretty in that rustic grayish\beige color. And maybe Mushroom or off white color on the walls so it can be a neutral color for your accessories. And if you like the green color, paint one wall with that real pretty Olive green color. Maybe use the olive green and egg plant color towels. You don't want to paint all your walls dark. That will make your bathroom look smaller. Picture of your bathroom would be helpful.

I would lighten the tile by paint ing it white or something really light. It will make the room look bigger too. Then you can go with whatever color your heart desires for the vanity. I did a pewter color in my daughters room a few weeks ago and love it!

The grout definitely needs to be colored ,there is grout paint

a grey would be nice then a light gray washed paint look on the vanity sealed with wax

the green will then blend better and you can get a green/ gray paint for the walls to pull everything together

make those tiles work for you instead of against you

Just moved into a house and have close to that same tile. Iā€™m painting ours. If you care to do this, clean it well. Rinse and rinse again. Let that dry out 48 hours. An added step is to use Kurd Kutter deglosser to make sure all residue is removed. I recommend using Zinsser Cover Stain as the bonding primer. Use a roller you can throw away. Primer is oil based, but it sticks to slick surfaces and doesnā€™t budge if applied properly. Iā€™ve successfully painted many floors using this. Ventilate well as itā€™s oil based. Iā€™m stenciling our tiles to look like the pretty cement ones. Use paint of choice for that. Top coat with polycrylic or triple thick water based polyurethane. You donā€™t want to use an oil based polyurethane as it cracks and will yellow. Paint vanity any color once you paint the floors.

You could stencil the tile, but it looks dark enough in color that a nice gray would go well with it and possibly compliment it

    • I would change the grout color. Use Maepi Grout Refresh. Amazon has the most colors, but Floor and Decor also carries it. I used it on both my bathrooms. It has a sealer in it so the grout stays clean. You have 2 choices for your vanity you can clean, prime and paint. I think a nice Sea Foam on the walls, white vanity or navy blue would look wonderful. You could also stain the vanity a greyish green. Minwax has great colors, check them out.

I would suggest painting it black and updating the hardware. I have an older vanity in my bathroom and recently painted it black. It came out great. It looks so much more modern now.

Silver - Pewter - Gold - Rose Gold, or just do the trims or the flat parts only. Or why not chang up the handles of the vanity to multi coloured ceramic knobs!
