Has anyone tried to paint their corian counter tops?

Question

I stopped at a paint store and he tried to sell me a can of stix's. Said this is the primer then add your color paint and two coats of staysclear. Advise please

Some here have painted laminates using the rustoleum counter 'kits' these are an epoxy type paint that is quite durable. Personally I'm a fan of large granite tile...this can be installed for a fraction of the granite slab price...and you get the great looks and heat resistance of real granite. here is a grantie tile project I did a while back. http://www.networx.com/article/frugal-remodeling-tips-from-a-contractor

Just wondering why do you want to paint Corian? Is it the color?

Yes...Royal Blue. I love Corian and know its the best out on the market. I want more of a neutral look.

@ I want thinking since they can make Corian with stripes along the edge they could probably add a thin layer over an existing corian counter. They can repair damaged Corian by cutting pieces out and seamlessly repair it, so why couldn't they add a very thin layer?

Even if you successfully managed to paint the Corian, it would not last because cleaning products would be too abrasive for it.. I would not recommend it. The other choice is to work with the blue by choosing a complimentary color scheme..
Another choice is to replace.

veneers can be a great alternative to granite.
Different manufacturers of veneer will have different prices depending on how they make their countertops. Unlike granite, you won’t find any that are hundreds of dollars a square foot.
What you will find is a number of manufacturers that will charge you $55 -$65 a square foot. On average, you’ll pay an additional $25 per linear foot for custom edge details like a bullnose and there’s usually an additional charge for an under mount sink.The price is less than that of granite but you’re getting a stronger and lower maintenance product.

can you email me more pictures? I really am hitting a road block on dectorating. Im not a blue fan. Did you see the other comments here. One mentions the cleaning process. I was wondering how it will hold up against scratching. Corian shows lots a scratches. How long have you had your painted corian?

Laurie, sure I can email more pictures. I have done 6 kitchens and 19 bathrooms using this process. All kinds of surfaces. The key is the Entex lite. You can search Pinterest and there are others who post their kitchens using this product. what is your e-mail address?

Anna, if you search counters/Entex lite on Pinterest  there are 4-5 good tutorials. This is what I used when I started this. After you get the paint the way you want it, and you mix the Entex lite, you have to work fast. It is an epoxy resin that starts to cure in about 20 minutes. You pour it on and I used a paint stir stick to spread it then used a small propane torch to ' pop' th bubbles. I bought my first box and used it to experiment with. It is around 30.00 but if you use a mobile coupon for 40% off it is under 20.00 at hobby lobby or micheals. I was somewhat intimidated when I started but after practicing it is really quite easy.
