I'm assuming you mean an elegant color? Like gold and purple, or white and gold?

Doesn't really matter what color you choose as long as you like it. Preparation for painting is the most important step when painting previously finished furniture. If it is wood make sure you sand it thoroughly - to remove old finish and allow the paint to adhere. Make sure that the paint you buy is intended for the surface you are using it on. If in doubt, ask at your local hardware store, when you purchase the paint.
