Melamine paint!
Home Depot, Lowe's etc. have Rust-Oleum kits for refinishing laminate cabinets. If you go to www.houzz.com they also have instructions for redoing them.
Chalk paint goes on everything and requires little prep, maybe just a good cleaning and a light sanding and it will adhere great.
Home Depot and Lowe's have a terrific paint -- it is frequently used in RV's and on boats.
You can paint on plastic, but you have to sand real well before applying. Use a good quality paint/primer combination.
I believe Rustoleum has paint that would work on plastic. Have to read the label.
THERMOFOIL cabinets. If none of it is cracking or peeling your lucky. It has a tendency to do that, especially the doors. Bonded to MDF. My crew installed tons of them when I was a homebuilder.
Use acylic latex paint. Remove the doors and hardware. Mark the doors and cabinets with tape where they go. Lightly sand the doors and cabinets to remove any gloss and roughen the surface for paint. Prime with a stain blocking primer like Zinsser 123. Then paint with your color. Seal with at least three coats with a water based polyurethane. Use a small foam roller and foam brush for a smooth finish.
