How to prep around door knobs where paint has become gummy?
I'm repainting doors that have gummy paint just around the handles. Sanding does not fix this softened paint. How should I remove just this area before priming?
It depends on what kind of knobs they are and what color you want to paint them. Generally speaking, I would take them off and sand them a little with a very fine sandpaper. Then spray paint them with enamel spray paint. Finally put a couple of coats of clear acrylic over them.
