I have a large water heater in my home, yet we run out of hot water

If the change was gradual then it's probably a sediment buildup. If it was sudden then maybe a bad element or broken dip tube. Some dip tubes are plastic and have shorter lifespans than others.Helpful Reply -

Large may not be large enough. It also may be too old, or have a leak.Helpful Reply -

What size? May not be large enough for your household. How old is it? May need to be replaced or have a leak. I have a 50 gallon hot water heater and can not run the dishwasher, washing machine and take a shower concurrently. Maybe too many things going on at one time?Helpful Reply -

Turn up heat on the heater itself, and maybe have a plumber check where the settings are on each shower: there’s a mix valve behind the handle usually.Helpful Reply -

Oh, can also have a recirculating pump installed to get pipes hot before you shower. Handy when there’s a long distance between heater and shower.Helpful Reply -
