air conditioner compressor runs but no cold air comes through what is wrong?

More than likely need freon (gas). Does the fan run? If the fan and compressor are running sounds like a lack of freon gas.

Oh gosh I have this same problem...the AC repair guy has been out multiple times and it still only blows for a few hours, then nothing.

Ours did that for several years, no repairman could figure it out. Finally discovered we had a freon leak and they fixed it. Runs great now. Tell them to look for a freon leak.
