Dryer door won't stay latched :-(

We have a front loading HE dryer. We switched the hinge from one side to the other, followed the instructions in the manual to do so, but now the dryer door won't stay latched. Arrrrg! Of course that means it won't dry either. Any help? It's a Kenmore Elite model 1108708, don't know the year.

We installed a window lock on our dryer door, problem solved! Can't see from the photo if this solution would work for your dryer.

If you can'tfix the latch,try leaning something heavy on the door when closed(like a chair or crate or a hamper) and you might fool the machine into thinking it is closed and it will start, that worked for mine when the knob in the door broke...

I have the same one with the same problem. Had the repair man fit it. He only had to adjust the latch (bent it up a little with pliers) stays closed now!

My LG did the same thing.. I had a device tech guy come and he told me that the catch needed to me moved up.

I couldn't find your exact model online, but it "probably" has the spring jaw latch and tab type catch. (see attached photo) If so, continue reading. I've had this problem before. It's possible that when you moved the catch from one side of the door to the other that you squeezed the top portion of the catch and made it too narrow to catch firmly in the spring jaws in the frame. To widen the catch, the adjustment you can try is to take a flat blade screwdriver in the upper part of the catch and "twist" it to widen the top part of the catch. Widen it a bit at a time until it "snaps" into the latch firmly and stays closed. Let us know what you find.
