What can I do with a whirlpool tub that the jets do not work?

The jets get all kinds of funk behind them when not used. I would like to remove the jets and somehow make it a regular tub. Can this be done?

If you know the manufacturer and the model number, I would do a search on Google and see if you can come up with a manual that gives all the details about the tub. I did this for our hot tub that came with our house and was able to fix it. We had a air lock in the lines.

You don't have to turn on the jets, or run the bath water as deep as the jets, especially with soapy or oily bath products. Our jetted tub was new with the house in 1985. About a year ago, after a regular cleaning of the tub, I realized the jets didn't look clean to me. I did a little digging (ha ha), and pulled out hair and gunk from each jet. Yuck! It just had not occurred to me, since the tub is only used about twice a year. I used my cleaning toothbrushes and hydrogen peroxide and baking soda to reach everything possible. I even cleaned the inside of the faucet. Then I used Drano and cleaned the drain. I feel sure now that my jetted tub is as clean as possible. And I trust it with my granddaughters when they visit. A building contractor told me the only way to work on these tubs is to break them apart and replace them. Best wishes 😇

Would it not be easier and cheaper to just clean then out once in a while?

If its lime deposits clogging it up, I would add a bunch of CLR to the tub, let sit for a day, drain and refresh the water.

Use dishwasher detergent and run the jets for at least 20 mins. My dad was a plumber and this is what he would recommen.
