I have a hole in my wall....
What’s the proper way to fix it? There used to be a door bell chime at that spot

This is a fairly easy repair. Amazon offers drywall repair kits that have everything you need but the paint, including instructions. You can get the materials from Home Depot but they don't offer any complete kits.

The kits use a piece of self-adhesive screen that you cut to put over the hole. Then you add layers of spackle or joint compound building up the patch even with the wall surface, sanding between layers. A little creative work on the last layer to get the texture close then paint.

If the wires are not live, cut them off! Use Poly filler for the hole , don't try to do it all at once, and leave a key, so nxt lot of filler will hold.

A key is an open space that you fill with more of the compound when you apply the next layer of filler. Use a screwdriver to make a hole in two or three places . these will fill the next time and help to hold the top layer in place.

For sure make sure those wires aren't live. Not sure if it is legal to just bury them in the wall. You should check this out with your city officials. Could be a fire hazard. I hope you at least capped them.
