Finally put together this morning and put the "dimmable" bulb the guy at HD told me would work. Well, it DOES work, but it has only ONE setting and when I rotate the three way knob on this lamp the bulb either goes off, stays off or comes on with full lumens. WHAT do I need-?

It sounds like he didn't sell you the right one. Maybe you need the three way bulb instead. It sounds more like a three way switch and not a dimmable switch.

you need a three way bulb. You can find them in many different styles & colors. I use daylight bulbs. Very while light...not yellow.

Yep, You need a three way bulb. Take the dimmable bulb back, explain what happened. You should have no problem. The three way bulb will have three wattages listed on the package. Of course it will be an incandescent bulb. They haven't made three way CFL or LED bulbs yet.

Yes, they now make 3 way CFL, and LED light bulbs.

Yes, Gregory, they came out in 2014. They are just modified dimmer bulbs without the dimming feature in the way they are constructed. Apologies.
