We did not want to cut into our outside wall to hard wire up a door bell.... we purchased a wireless remote door bell from a big box home improvement store... and it has worked very well for over 5 years.... we just change the battery in the "remote button" when needed.... the other part just plugs into an outlet in the living room
Yes, it is unless there is a fault/break in the line itself.
Oh, I did not bother replacing hardware. I went to home depot and bought the one that you can set the chime too. My brother and neighbor did the same thing. They are pretty good.
