I am unclear as to what to do with this part of my house, "The Breakfast Nook".
Cheaper to replace than try to repair. There may be a short along the length which can be a fire or shock hazard.
Check the cords for cracks. The wires may be broken inside.
Hi Austcarol, You may want to look carefully along each cord to see if there are any exposed wires. If this isn't the case, Here is a link on how to replace the plug. https://www.thisoldhouse.com/more/how-to-replace-extension-cord-plug
Good luck!
Plug them into sockets you know are good, get one of those testers and see if current is coming through. You can replace the ends or get new extension cords. I wouldn't replace the plugs unless you know what you are doing, or you know someone who does it. I am lucky, hubby can do anything plumbing, electrical, etc. He has replaced many ends without a problem.
Cheap, buy more.
I was going to say the same thing Lindalou said.....they are cheap...buy new ones.
