My intercom has a buzzing noise- help!

I have had my intercom for many years most of the time it is ok but some times when I pick it up I have a awful Buzzing noise then after a few days it just goes back to normal . Any help please

I had a phone 40 years ago that would ring all by itself. It turned out that a spider had built a nest in there and everytime she would move, it would make theconnection and cause the phone to ring. We cleaned it up and everything was ok. This was a wall phone and we had to take it off the wall to get to the nest.
Has it been rewired lately?
Usually the humming sound comes from a loose connection especially if it is a hand held intercom, move the wire around to see if the humming sound comes and goes that will help figuring out if the wire is bad or not.
My mom and dad had a whole house intercom years ago, occasionally electronics would cause it to have interference.
