Beveled edges of mounted wall mirror losing silver nitrate - refinish?

The beveled edges of the mirror trim in the bathrooms are all turning black - and I believe is because for the past 14 years I cleaned the mirrors with a glass cleaner then wiped the mirror dry from top to bottom with a squeegee forcing the cleaner to the bottom of the mirror. I did not realize the damage that was slowly growiing.

I cannot take the mirror or the trim off the wall. Can the beveled edge be painted from the outside? Please share any ideas. Thank you!

most trim pieces like that can be painted...is it a true metal or a plastic trim? i would try to remove the rest of the current finish. then apply new.

Nothing much you can do to repaur. Moisture has gotten behind and broke down the protective painr and attacked the silvering. Only suggestion In have is to frame the damage area.

It's a gonna! I have tried the paint method. It dont work. Dump it or reframe it so the frame covers the error.

Try to reframe it if you like and want to keep the mirror. Added bonus: A new frame will also give your bathroom new look!

I had the same problem, except mine was from living in FL! I bought sheets of 1" tumbled marble tiles at Home Depot and carefully cut them, with 2 tiles together for my new "frame" - using a mirror adhesive, I glued the tiles directly to the mirror, let dry and grouted - it is great! And its now a feature, not a flaw!

Cover it with stick on tiles or even wood looking contact paper. Even if you could take if off the wall trying to repair mirror never looks the same. You could mask it off and spray paint it a glossy black, would be a nice frame.

You can order a frame for your mirror from Mirror Renovations. They are super easy to assemble and have your mirror looking better in no time. On a side note.... also check out Norwex products, I have a rep if you need her. You simply use water and a rag and you get streak free shine every time.
