Do I have to remove scrapes from lower cabinet trim. Remove trim?

Wheel chair scrapes on lower cabinet doors and the trim. Do I have to remove trim to sand, or just sand the scraped area. Gorges are a little deep in some places so should I get a filler before sanding and re-painting ?

  • I would think that deeper gouges will need filler. It might be easier to work on if you take it off but then you might just want to replace it entirely. A patched area might stand out but I am sure only you will notice. I have this same problem in my house. There are some really challenging scrapes and nicks in the walls, doors, trim moldings. Good luck.

If your still in a wheelchair might be better to apply a strip of plastic for a rub area
