Would it work to get patches of more fabric- contrasting color - and see a few of them on sofa?? Kinda creating a hobo look? If not, cover the whole thing with a sofa cover.
Get a decent couch cover till you can replace the sofa.
im assuming it the cover of the couch that is disentigrating and the couches structure. The problem with patching disentigrating fabric is finding surfaces of fabric that still maintain a true integrity. If you patch onto a compromised surface then the patch won’t stick. The patch needs a Strong surface that won’t rip.
if the couch has a great build then recover it or buy a slip cover. Otherwise, look for a new couch. IKEA has some great inexpensive options
cover and tuck with a pretty Queen size bedspread
No repair. Slipcover.

Per the experts, repairing and dyeing an unstable surface is likely to suffer the same fate and is often not worth the labor and money. Reupholstery or replacement is recommended.
We tried the slipcover - it didn't work. The little shreds of the faux finish stick to everything and get tracked all over the house.
Many years ago I painted a stuffed plastic chair and it worked, but I don't remember the type of paint and also, I think there are products out ther designed for this problem.
I have wrapped the cushions with a sheet temporarily.
This seems to be the best solution yet. Will try to give it a chance. Thanx!
Stretchy slipcover. It cannot be repaired.
Use a Stabilizer on it!
When fake leather starts to fall apart there really isn't any fix but you can attempt to hide it with a slip cover.
