How do you stop a sap that keeps seeping out of a wood picnic table?

we bought a picnic table and finished it with a varnish----There is a sap that bleeds out of the wood. How do we stop this?

Remove the existing varnish and seal it with a outdoor polyurethane
sand it
There is not much you can do. Be patiient. It will quit on its own once it get dried out, but it is annoying in the mean time.
Kilz paint. its seals out any type of stain.
