Depends on how much is chewed away, whether the wood is flat or a molding, and whether it is painted or varnished.
Moldings = replace. Flat = wood filler, sand, and paint. If it is varnished it will never look quite right again because the wood filler will not look the same as surrounding wood.

That's a tough one. Without seeing the damage or the piece of furniture- kinda hard to offer any real help.
You’ll have to sand and refill the chewed area with some wood putty, or what I fall back on, Bondo. Once filled in, sand to smooth and repaint.
