My Joann's sells thick foam (if they don't have it in the store, they can order it for you). The problem is that is pretty expensive, so make sure you have a coupon!
I got foam from Joanna fabric store, measure the size if your cushions that you have or the covers . If the covers you will need to trim and can use an electric knife
I am thinking of doing the same thing for my couch which is too soft and squishy. I was going to try just adding more foam to what is already there.
Joann was very expensive. Check out Foam Factory. Info@foambymail.com 1-586-627-3626. We love the foam we received. Exactely right size, thickness and firmness.
Google to find a local foam store in your area. Take one of the old cushions with you as a guide. The people at the shop will help you measure and calculate how much you need as well as offer suggestions. The shop I have been going to for over 30 years also cuts to order.
For your foam, consider checking at Home Depot. They carry a 2'x6' piece of firm foam for about $25. You would probably have to double it to get a piece the is thick enough, but it will be much cheaper than the hobby shops.
have you tried putting a support board under your couch cushions? 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick plywood? the springs may be shot in your couch.
