Hi Angela, I think that your first step would be to look at what's available then figure out pricing. If your tile is vinyl, you can paint your counter but you must remember never to put a hot item on the counter ever again. Below are some google images to explore. To see more info about the picture click on the picture then, on the right, click on Visit. To go back to continue looking, first use click the x on the page where you are, then just use the X on the upper right of the picture and all the others will come back. Wishing you the best & Happy New Year!https://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+paint+a+vinyl+tile+counter&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi14L-_uLLYAhXDl-AKHbGyAjQQsAQIbg&biw=1280&bih=643Helpful Reply- See 1 previous

If you do use something to cover your countertops rather than replace them, not only can you never put hot things on it, you shouldn't let food rest on it. Use cutting boards, trays, etc., for food on counters. This would be for paint, vinyl adhesives like contact paper etc. These solutions of course would only be temporary.Helpful Reply -

A good bit rests on your skill level. You may be happy with a Formica type laminate the color choices are vast. It is the easy answer, it can be a DIY or contracted out. If you like the convenience of having tiled counters (for hot pots), you may be able to tile over what is there.Helpful Reply -
