What can i do about peeling bonded leather sofa

I bought a bonded leather sofa and it has started peeling in the headrest area and seat. Any ideas on how to make it look better! Thank you.

I have worked in furniture stores for about 7 years of my life. Not that is going to help you, but know for that for the larger furniture retailers, they are no longer selling bonded leather. This has been an industry disaster. It is not an actual leather, more of a composite of leather if that makes sense. I am not sure how long ago you purchased, but most reputable dealers are willing to replace it if it hasn't been too long. Banded and bi-cast leather was treated with urethane. As time went on the urethane separates from the material and thus you get cracking and peeling. Once it starts it is generally going to continue again somewhere else in time, although I have heard some have been lucky enough to only have it happen where they really use it. While you may be able to minimize the appearance of it, you will probably continue to suffer with it. Best to not put too much out to repair, but more to budget for a new sofa.

Thanks for the explanation. I agree that it is generally not worth the time or money to try to fix these composite leather white elephants.

Slipcovers could be the answer for not replacing the sofa.
