Vaseline is an oil.... and could effect whether the wood accepts paint or stain in the future..... better to use sand paper or a sanderHelpful Reply -

Hello. What I have done to distress a vanity was after I stained it I went over the edges and some spots in the middle of the cabinets doors with sand paper.Helpful Reply -

I've seen tutorials with vaseline, but, not wanting to put it on wood, I layer my colors and then lightly sand areas that would normally show wear if I want distressing.Helpful Reply -
