How do I patch a hole in concrete porch foundation?
I have a concrete porch with one step. The concrete that is verticle between the step & the porch (riser?) has an open ( about 2in.) hole in it where you can see under the porch. I plan to patch it with hydraulic cement but I don't know what to put behind the hole for the cement to grab on to. I'd really appreciate any ideas.

Can you add a board behind the step up to the porch floor.
Thanks but no. The porch sits on concrete. I would have to use something like cardboard with a string put in the middle , shove it in & pull the string to pull it against the back of the hole. I've done this with interior wall holes but have no idea what to use so this concrete patch won't fail over time.
What about chicken wire in the hole. It's also stiff enough you cold extend it into the hole. What do you think?
