1. Pour boiling water down the drain.
2. Use a plunger.
3. Use baking soda and vinegar (the natural alternative to chemicals)!
4. Take the drain cover off and pull out the clog by hand.
5. Use a hook.
6. Use a plumbers' snake (also sometimes called a "toilet jack" or an "electric eel").
7. Use chemicals.

You can add water yo your tub/shower and plunge to clear the drain, once you clear it, you can add items over or into the drain to keep them from clogging

Diane, Unscrew the drain cover or pry it from the seal, then clean the cover top and bottom in a sink. With the cover off, use a straightened out coat hanger or a drain snake and gently clean out the shower drain. Think of just one year’s shampoo, conditioner, soap, body wash, hair, dirt, sweat, hairpins, and other things that have washed down the drain. Multiply that yucky mess by the number of years since the drain has been cleaned out (ever?), and you can imagine why the drain needs to be snaked once a year or so. If the drain if clogged, or if there is standing water, now is the time to use the plunger. If water runs more or less freely, use a small mop or old rags to clean the edge of the drain and as much of the shower drain line as you can reach. I use my gloved hand and an old scrubber sponge. 🧽 when you have cleaned as much muck out as you can and put it in a trash can, then use another rag or well-rinsed small mop, clean the drain again with a solution of vinegar, baking soda, and lemon juice. I put my solution in a spray bottle. When you have done all that, if the drain is not clear, use extra strength Drano as directed, or call a plumber $. If you are sure the drain is clear and clean, replace the drain cover and enjoy your shower. I try to clean ours once a year or more often. 🚿 Jewell
