We had this problem. Started running wster for a few minutes every few hours to flush the lines. This odour was very strong but is now gone completely. I run wster at least once a week in this drain. I should say it is a drain not used on a daily basis in our home. Jacquie

Mix up baking soda and lemon juice and pour it down the drain. Let it stand for at least an hour. Then pour boiling water down the drain.

If none of the above work, you might have a drain that is not vented properly. Unfortunately, in today's construction world, the drain vents are often just not done because that's something that will be hidden behind walls and they can get away with it. I don't know what to tell you to do because it can be very hard to get to the drain and fix the problem. I'm hoping flushing and disinfecting will do it for you.

Hopefully this isn’t the case, Delle, but I wouldn’t be surprised. Thanks for responding.

I agree with Delle! Either it's not vented properly, clogged vent, or P trap was not or incorrectly installed. The P trap hold just enough water to prevent sewer gases from escaping into the room. Clogged or improper vent can cause water to be sucked out of the P trap when toilet is flushed if both are on the same vent.

Hope it works, Yammie! Smelly drains are the grossest! 😞
